Why in news?
The eighth National Anubhav Awards ceremony is scheduled for 18 August 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event marks a decade of the Anubhav initiative, with awards to be presented by the Minister of State for Personnel.
What is the Anubhav initiative?
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare launched the Anubhav portal in March 2015. It encourages retiring civil servants to write about their experiences and lessons learned during public service. These memoirs, published online, preserve institutional knowledge and inspire younger colleagues.
Award scheme
- Categories: Each year a jury selects five memoirs for the National Anubhav Awards and may confer ten jury certificates.
- Criteria: Entries are judged on clarity, honesty, instructive value and potential to encourage good governance.
- Decennial milestone: The 2025 ceremony celebrates ten years of Anubhav. It highlights the platform’s role in fostering storytelling and transparency in government.
Importance
By sharing real‑life experiences, the initiative promotes a culture of learning within the civil service. It also improves public perception of government work and preserves narratives that might otherwise be lost when officials retire.
