Why in news?
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched YUVA AI for ALL, a free, self‑paced course designed to introduce citizens—especially youth—to the basics of artificial intelligence. Announced on 18 November 2025 under the IndiaAI Mission, the initiative aims to train one crore (ten million) people in foundational AI skills.
Background
Artificial intelligence is transforming workplaces, education and daily life. However, many Indians lack access to quality AI education. Building on earlier initiatives such as the AI‑For‑All programme launched in collaboration with CBSE and Intel, YUVA AI for ALL seeks to democratise AI knowledge. The course is part of the broader IndiaAI Mission, which focuses on research, education and adoption of AI technologies while emphasising ethics and inclusivity.
Course structure and contents
- Duration and format: The course lasts about 4.5 hours and can be completed at one’s own pace. It is delivered through short, video‑based modules with assessments and practical exercises.
- Six modules: Learners will (1) understand what AI is and how it works; (2) discover how AI is reshaping education, creativity and workplaces; (3) explore real‑world AI applications in India; (4) learn about safe and responsible use of AI tools, including issues of bias and privacy; (5) consider the future of AI and emerging opportunities; and (6) appreciate the ethical and social implications of AI.
- Language and examples: The course uses simple language and relatable Indian examples, making the content accessible to school students, college learners, professionals and anyone curious about technology.
- Delivery platforms: It is available on FutureSkills Prime, iGOT Karmayogi and other major education platforms. Participants receive a certificate endorsed by the Government of India upon completion.
- Partnerships: MeitY is encouraging schools, universities, industry and civil society organisations to partner in promoting the course. The goal is to reach learners across rural and urban areas, bridging the digital divide.
Significance
By offering an accessible introduction to AI, YUVA AI for ALL empowers citizens to participate in an economy increasingly shaped by automation and intelligent systems. Training one crore people helps create an informed workforce, supports innovation and promotes ethical adoption of AI. The initiative also underscores India’s commitment to inclusive digital literacy, ensuring that the benefits of AI are shared widely and responsibly.
