Ayush Anudan Portal: Digitising grants for traditional medicine

Why in news?

The Union Ministry of Ayush launched the Ayush Anudan Portal on 19 May 2026. The new website will streamline submission, processing and monitoring of funding proposals under Central Sector Schemes. It is part of the Ayush Grid digital initiative and aims to increase transparency and efficiency in grant management.

Background

India’s Ministry of Ayush oversees policies for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. To support institutions and research, the ministry offers grants to educational bodies, non‑governmental organisations and other entities. Historically, applying for funds involved paperwork and limited tracking. Under the Ayush Grid programme, which promotes digital health services, officials designed a portal to modernise this process.

Key features

  • Single window for proposals: Applicants can submit and monitor funding proposals across multiple schemes through one online interface.
  • Integration with NGO Darpan: The portal authenticates non‑profits via the NITI Aayog’s NGO Darpan database, reducing duplication and ensuring compliance.
  • Real‑time tracking: Applicants receive updates on the status of their proposals, from submission to sanction and disbursal.
  • Paperless governance: Digital signatures and electronic records minimise paperwork and reduce processing time.

Benefits

  • The portal increases transparency by displaying approval status and fund utilisation details to applicants.
  • Centralised data helps policymakers analyse trends and allocate resources more efficiently.
  • Integrating the system with My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP) means applicants can access multiple services using a single login.

Conclusion

The Ayush Anudan Portal represents a shift toward digital, accountable grant management in India’s traditional medicine sector. By simplifying the application process and providing real‑time information, the platform seeks to make government support more accessible to educational institutions, researchers and community organisations.
