Why in news?
India beat defending champions Korea 4–1 in the final of the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 held in Rajgir, Bihar. The victory secured India’s fourth Asia Cup title and a direct berth in the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup.
About the tournament
- Prestige: The Asia Cup is Asia’s most important continental hockey championship and is held every four years. It provides the winners a spot in the World Cup.
- Host city: The 2025 edition was held from 29 August to 7 September in Rajgir, Bihar—India’s first time hosting the tournament in this state.
- Mascot: “Chaand” the tiger, wearing a red cape and magician’s hat, symbolised courage and skill. The mascot drew inspiration from Bihar’s Valmiki Tiger Reserve.

- Unbeaten run: India remained undefeated, with commanding wins over China (7–0) and Malaysia en route to the final.
