Why in news?

Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) received the Guinness World Records title in June 2026 for the “Most Users to Take an Online Quiz in One Week”. The record was set during the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue (VBYLD) Quiz, where 390,812 participants successfully completed the quiz on the MY Bharat portal.

Background

Launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, MY Bharat is a national digital platform designed to connect young Indians aged 15–29 with opportunities for volunteering, experiential learning and leadership development. The portal allows youth to register, create profiles and participate in programmes hosted by government ministries, educational institutions, non‑profits and private organisations. Its purpose is to foster active citizenship and give young people a voice in nation‑building.

MY Bharat is not a job‑placement portal. Instead, it tracks engagement metrics such as registrations, activities hosted and participation levels. A dedicated dashboard monitors programmes and partner onboarding. Enhancements underway include making the portal available in 22 Indian languages, launching mobile apps, integrating speech‑to‑text features via the BHASHINI platform and linking with other government portals. As of early 2026 the portal had over two crore registered users.

Guinness World Record achievement

  • The VBYLD Quiz was part of the National Youth Festival. During the official assessment period from 25 to 31 October 2025, more than 8.39 lakh quiz participations were recorded. After verification, Guinness World Records certified 390,812 eligible participants.
  • The record demonstrates the trust of India’s youth in the MY Bharat portal and their enthusiasm to contribute ideas for the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. It also reflects the portal’s reach across all 28 states and eight union territories.

Core features of MY Bharat

  • Youth registration and profiles: Young participants can sign up, create a profile and showcase their volunteering and learning experiences. The platform helps them build a digital CV.
  • Volunteering and experiential learning: The portal lists opportunities such as community service, internships, hackathons, design contests and cultural events. Youth can apply for programmes that match their interests and receive certificates on completion.
  • Knowledge‑building modules: Interactive modules like quizzes, essays, design challenges and hackathons encourage analytical thinking and creativity. The VBYLD quiz is one example of such engagements.
  • Technology integration: The platform is being translated into multiple languages and integrated with BHASHINI for speech‑to‑text conversion. A WhatsApp chatbot allows users to register, access programmes, receive reminders and get support via their mobile phones.
  • Not a jobs portal: MY Bharat does not provide employment placement or stipends. It focuses on developing leadership, skills and civic engagement through volunteering and training.

Conclusion

MY Bharat exemplifies how digital platforms can mobilise and empower youth for nation‑building. By offering opportunities for service, learning and leadership, and by recognising young people’s contributions with initiatives like the Guinness World Record quiz, the portal nurtures a generation committed to India’s progress. Ongoing enhancements and inclusive design will ensure that youth from all backgrounds can participate and contribute to the Viksit Bharat vision.
