Renowned Tamil lyricist and author R. Vairamuthu has been selected for the 2025 Jnanpith Award, making him the third Tamil writer to receive India’s highest literary honour.
Background
The Jnanpith Award was instituted in 1961 by the Bharatiya Jnanpith trust to recognise the outstanding contribution of Indian writers.
