Why in news?
The Indian Army launched Operation ShivShakti to prevent infiltration across the Line of Control in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. In late July 2025 soldiers eliminated two terrorists attempting to cross into Indian territory, just days after the success of Operation Mahadev.
About the operation
- Objective: To intercept and neutralise militants before they could enter populated areas or attack infrastructure.
- Area of operation: The mission took place in the Degwar sector near Maldivalan, a known infiltration route along the LoC.
