The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the Scheme for Innovation and Technology Association with Aadhaar (SITAA) to nurture cutting‑edge solutions in India’s digital identity system. Announced on 16 October 2025, the scheme invites startups, academic institutions and industry to develop indigenous technologies for biometric authentication and security.

Background

UIDAI manages Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric ID programme, used for welfare delivery and digital services. To enhance security and inclusiveness, UIDAI seeks to move beyond imported devices and adopt home‑grown solutions.
