UPSC Pratibha Setu Programme

July 19, 2025 2 min read

Why in news?

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) renamed and expanded its Public Disclosure Scheme as “Pratibha Setu” (Bridge of Talent) in July 2025. The programme connects candidates who have cleared the Civil Services Examination but are not allocated services with potential employers.

Rationale

Every year thousands of aspirants prepare for the Civil Services Examination. Many qualify the preliminary and main stages but do not secure a final rank or service because of limited vacancies and reservation quotas. These candidates possess high analytical ability and knowledge of governance. The earlier Public Disclosure Scheme allowed them to voluntarily share their written test scores. Pratibha Setu goes further by proactively matching them with job opportunities.

Key features

Benefits

Pratibha Setu prevents the waste of human capital by providing alternative career pathways. Employers gain access to a pool of motivated and knowledgeable individuals. The initiative also encourages aspirants to view failure in the civil services exam not as an end but as part of a broader journey.
