Why in news?
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched “Yuva AI for All,” an initiative that brings artificial intelligence education to young people across India. A travelling van known as the “Kaushal Rath” is touring schools and colleges with computer labs to offer a free course on AI basics.
Background
India’s AI Mission seeks to foster an inclusive AI ecosystem by building a skilled workforce. Yuva AI for All targets students aged 10 and above. The four‑hour self‑paced course covers fundamentals of AI, machine learning and ethical use. The programme partners with platforms such as FutureSkills Prime and Coursera for content and certification.
Programme features
- The Kaushal Rath is a mobile classroom equipped with computers, internet connectivity and audiovisual equipment. It will travel to rural and urban areas, especially underserved regions.
- Students can enrol on the spot and complete the course at their own pace. Those who finish receive certificates, which could enhance future employability.
- Partners include AISECT, TCS iON, the National e‑Governance Division and the iGOT Karmayogi platform. The initiative is designed to complement the India AI Impact Summit planned for later in 2026.
Benefits
Yuva AI for All democratises AI education by reaching students who lack access to quality digital resources. By introducing AI concepts early, it prepares a future workforce that can contribute to India’s digital economy. The mobile model also ensures inclusivity by bridging geographic and socio‑economic divides.
